Lane two · The Ninja Transfers Magic Trick

Everybody loves high-end embroidery. Almost nobody wants to pay for it.

Ninja Transfers can carry the look of chenille, of stitched embroidery, of a raised puff logo, of a watercolor on paper. And here is why that is a business and not just a trick: real embroidery is cost prohibitive because of the advanced technical skills required and expensive machinery required.     Start with art you already have

    A logo, a drawing, a painting, a photo of something you painted. Nothing yet? Describe it to the free AI Image Generator and pick one of the three it draws.

Change the last two words for any look you want to emulate: as a chenille patch, as a raised puff logo, as a woven label, as a watercolor on paper.

And if you really want to expand your opportunities, point the same eye at somebody else's name. A local business needs custom products, and what they are really buying is consistency: the twentieth product has to look like the first one. You are still the one making it, and your twist is why theirs ends up looking better than something out of a catalog. This is the biggest step of the three, and it is the one that turns a table into a customer list.

Where most people start

The message, word for word

Fill in the brackets yourself. Everything else stays exactly as it is.

Look them up first. It takes about ninety seconds.

The email is on their contact page, their Facebook About tab, or the bio on their Instagram. While you are there, take the two things that make this message land: what they actually do, and something that just happened. A new location, a new sign, a season starting, a post about a busy weekend. If there is no email anywhere, that is your answer. Walk in instead.

Hi [their name],

I saw [the thing you found. You just opened on Mill Street. The new sign went up. Your season starts next month]. Congratulations.

I am local, I live [over on the next street], and I make custom shirts and apparel. If you ever want anything with your logo on it, for the team or to sell, I would love to quote it. There is no minimum, so even a handful is fine.

Why it is written like this

This is how professional cold outreach teams write, and it is worth knowing why. It is plain text, one person typing to another. No logo, no letterhead, no links, no button. Those are the things that make a message look like it went to a thousand people, and inboxes treat it that way too.

The brackets get filled in by hand, on purpose. Software can fill them in automatically and everybody can tell. The one specific detail you looked up is the entire reason it gets read.

And it asks for nothing. There is no call to book and no decision to make, so there is nothing to say no to.

The fastest one

Walk in, say nine seconds of words, and leave

Every guide skips this part. Here is the wrong version first, because it is the one everybody does.

The wrong version

"Hi, um, sorry to bother you. I don't know if you'd even be interested in this. I just kind of started doing this thing, I don't know if it's any good. But if you ever wanted shirts, I could maybe do some? No pressure at all."

Everything wrong with that is that it asks her to make a decision and tells her not to, at the same time. It hands her a job and then apologizes for it.

Say this instead

"Hi, I'm [your name]. I'm local, I live right over on [the next street]. I make custom shirts and I made you this one. If you ever want more, or you want to sell them, I can do that. Either way, that one is yours."

And then you leave.

Why the short one works

It asks her for nothing, so there is nothing for her to say no to. The shirt on her counter does the convincing after you have gone, which is the whole reason to bring one.

The sample is not a courage prop, it is a business tool. It gives her something to react to, so the conversation is about a shirt on a table instead of about you standing there.

The real unlock

This is the one almost nobody does, and the reason you can is the reason to be here rather than anywhere else.

What you bring

Pick the lead you are genuinely excited about and make the product before you ever speak to them. Their logo, on the thing they would actually sell, in two or three variations. A different size, a different placement, a different color.

You are not showing them a mockup on a phone. You are handing them a finished product and letting them pick which one they like. Nobody walks in having already made the decision for them, and that is exactly why it lands.

The questions everyone asks first

What is a DTF transfer? DTF stands for Direct-to-Film, a printing method where your design is printed onto a special film and then heat pressed onto a garment. DTF transfers work on a wide range of fabrics—including cotton, polyester, blends, and more—and can be applied in about 12-15 seconds with a heat press.
What is the minimum I can order? No Minimums! Whether you need 1 or 100,000 we can do it!
What kind of press do I need? You can use the iron you have lying around your house or an industrial level heat press or anything in between. Learn more on our How to Press page.
What sizes are available? We have sizes from 2" X 2" to 24" X 30 feet
How do transfers hold up in the wash? Ninja Transfers have been rigorously tested and verified by third party to ensure long-lasting durability. After undergoing 100 machine wash cycles (80°F, normal cycle, line dry) on a 100% cotton shirt, the transfers were evaluated for color retention, peeling, cracking, and overall integrity. The results were overwhelmingly positive, with a "Satisfactory" grade across all criteria, including negligible hand-feel change and no significant signs of delamination or print detachment.
How quickly can I get my order? Expedited orders ship within 24 -48 hours.
What file format should my artwork be? Vector art is always preferred, raster art should be at least 300 dpi. Preferred file types: .AI, .PDF Accepted files types: .JPG, .PNG
