How To Use a Protective Guard Sheet

Tom Golubovich

Learn how to effectively use a protective guard sheet in this video tutorial. Learn how to maximize safety and maintain the quality of your materials, ensuring long-lasting protection and optimal use.

When it comes to DTF decoration, different materials require different levels of heat. With our protective guard sheet, you will never have to worry about the garment getting scorched and burned by the heat given off by the heat press.

In fact, the durability of our Teflon sheets allows you to reuse them forever, making it the ultimate accessory for any DTF decorator. As you know, blank apparel isn’t always cheap, so the last thing we want to do is ruin the garment before you even have a chance to decorate it.

Follow our step-by-step instructions below to learn how to use a protective guard sheet.

Step One:

Place the garment onto the press, ensuring it is laid out without any wrinkles or creases that could impact the DTF design.

Step Two:

Place the design onto the garment, ensuring it is straight and in the desired location.

Step Three:

Place the protective guard sheet over the design and anywhere the heat press may come into contact with the garment or transfer.

Step Four:

Wait a few seconds (or more) and peel! If parts of the design are not sticking, lay it back down and press again with added pressure and heat (+15°F).  If unsuccessful, increase heat by 15°F increments until it works.

Step Five:

From here, you can use your parchment paper for the final press to give it a matte, smooth, and durable finish.

And that’s it! With these simple and easy-to-follow instructions, you’ll be pressing your DTF transfers without affecting your garment in no time.
